In light of the events following Hurricane Katrina we were looking at many other places listing locations of survivors and refugees where people could check up on lost ones, etc. but we felt the need to have a resource that not only has search (to eliminate the need to browse over many many pages or message boards), but has a place where volunteers can be listed and contacted, and where family and friends can request notification if a loved one is added.
